Waking up early is no easy feat, but sometimes, the views you can get are worth it.
That’s what I told myself, anyway, as I crawled out of bed at 6:45 in the morning to get ready to meet up with a new friend in Paris and catch the sunrise from Sacré-Cœur.
Just walking out of my apartment meant that I was met with this dreamy cotton candy sky, so I knew that today would be a good one. With the train ride into Paris being pretty much devoid of other passengers and Montmartre itself holding only a few sleepy stragglers, I found a moment of quiet and solitude that seems rare in Paris.
[And I mean, plus, this view.]
After catching the first rays of the sun and seeing the morning mist lift off of the city, I took my travel buddy around Montmartre a bit to show off this wonderful little area and all of its quirks.
After a leisurely stroll, we popped into a little café for a quick bite, This pain au chocolat turned out to be one of the best I’ve had in Paris to date—wonderfully fresh, flaky, and soft, and perfectly paired with a café crème.
And with that perfect way to round off the morning, I was ready to take on the rest of the day. [Never mind that I ended up skipping class, whoops.]
